The Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Arizona Manufacturers Council, in partnership with Ballard Spahr, are hosting a labor and employment law seminar. Topics to be covered include: 

·         the Employee Free Choice Act and other union initiatives and how to prepare and protect your company over the next few years;

·         union tactics, including the use of wage and hour class actions and independent contractor liabilities;

·         changes in the FMLA and COBRA;

·         new federal bills, including the Healthy Families Act, mandatory paid sick leave, mandatory paid FMLA time, and expansion of civil rights coverage;

·         the latest regarding E-Verify, I-9s, raids, and immigration compliance;

·         the top areas of vulnerability for your company under the new administration;

·         employment legislation in the 2009 session of the Arizona State Legislature; and

·         layoff issues and terminations in the current economic environment.
