PHOENIX – The Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry will present the 2012 Arizona Heritage Award to Alice Cooper this Friday, April 26th at the organization’s annual Heritage Award Dinner.

The Chamber’s Heritage Award honors a distinguished individual whose accomplishments and commitment to Arizona are recognized within the state, nationally and internationally. Past recipients include Justice Sandra Day O’Connor, cartoonist Bil Keane, Sen. Barry Goldwater, Ambassador Bob Fannin and former ASU football coach Frank Kush.

Alice Cooper is best known around the world for his special brand of theatrical rock ’n’ roll, which earned him a place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011. He is a film actor, a restaurateur, a golfing celebrity and also a popular radio DJ. Cooper is the recipient of this year’s Heritage Award due to his longtime positive influence on the state of Arizona through business, entertainment and his charitable work in the community, specifically through Alice Cooper’s Solid Rock Organization.

Solid Rock was founded in 1995 as a faith-based organization that raises money for organizations with like-minded missions. Recently, it has expanded its influence with the opening of The Rock Teen Center at 32nd Street.

“Solid Rock’s primary goal is to help meet the spiritual, economical, physical and social needs of teenagers and children in our community,” Cooper said.

This year’s dinner will be held at the University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, a venue that Cooper himself played in 2006.

Seats for the Heritage Award Dinner honoring Alice Cooper are still available and can be purchased at azchamber.com/events.
