Boeing nabs top honors as Arizona Manufacturer of the Year
PHOENIX – The Arizona Manufacturers Council on Friday recognized achievements in Arizona manufacturing at the 2011 Arizona Manufacturer of the Year Summit at the Sheraton Hotel in downtown Phoenix.
The event was attended by over 300 representatives of the state’s manufacturing community, and featured remarks from Gov. Jan Brewer, Congressmen Trent Franks, Paul Gosar and Ben Quayle and the newly elected speaker of the Arizona House, Andy Tobin.
Boeing, which manufacturers the Apache Attack Helicopter in Mesa, Ariz., was named Manufacturer of the Year.
“At Boeing the people producing aircraft are focused on what the customer is going to need next—what future capabilities and requirements are. We work to do what’s necessary to continuously improve, innovate and deliver products that satisfy customers’ expectations,” Tommy Filler said. Mr. Filler is Boeing’s deputy of attack helicopter programs.
Glenn Hamer, president and CEO of the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry, congratulated all of the day’s award winners and nominees.
“Friday’s event made clear that Arizona has a prosperous and growing manufacturing sector,” Hamer said. “All of our state’s manufacturers, large and small, will play a leading role in guiding our state to brighter days.”
