PHOENIX – The Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce today announced their endorsement of Rep. Jeff Flake for the U.S. Senate.
At a press conference this morning, Arizona Chamber President and CEO Glenn Hamer called Flake “the clear choice” in the race to fill the seat currently occupied by the retiring Sen. Jon Kyl.
“Arizona is losing a tremendous asset in Washington with the departure of Sen. Jon Kyl from the Senate,” Hamer said. “Jeff Flake is the best candidate to carry on Jon Kyl’s advocacy for our state’s unique interests. The Arizona Chamber is proud to endorse Jeff Flake for Senate.”
Hamer said Rep. Flake’s commitment to ensuring that the federal government does not squelch economic growth or intrude on states’ rights was a major factor in the congressman winning the Chamber’s endorsement.
“Read any poll and you’ll see that jobs and the economy are the priority issues concerning voters in our state and our country this election. When it comes to strengthening our economy and growing jobs, Jeff Flake will continue his strong record of supporting free-market policies that support job creators and increase our nation’s competitiveness,” Hamer said. “We need Jeff Flake’s voice in the U.S. Senate to push back against an overly intrusive EPA, to advocate for bringing more job-creating mining projects online like the Resolution Copper project, and to fight for Arizona as we seek to make Interstate 11 between Phoenix and Las Vegas a reality and bring new unmanned aerial systems to our airbases.”
