PHOENIX (May 30, 2019)—Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry President and CEO Glenn Hamer released the following statement regarding the appointment of Lea Marquez Peterson to the Arizona Corporation Commission and Andy Tobin being named as the next director of the Arizona Department of Administration:
“Gov. Doug Ducey has made an excellent, trailblazing selection in appointing Lea Marquez Peterson to the Arizona Corporation Commission. I have known Lea for years, and I can assure Arizonans across the state that she will be an exceptional commissioner, looking out for ratepayers and ensuring our energy regulatory system remains competitive and open to innovation.
“I am especially excited that she brings the perspective of small business to the commission. During her long and successful tenure leading the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, one of the nation’s truly outstanding chambers of commerce, she was one of our state’s most vocal and effective champions for entrepreneurs and small businesses. She has been a passionate advocate for all that Arizona has to offer. From her time as co-chair of the Arizona Zanjeros, to her service on the Arizona Chamber board of directors, to her national recognition as one of the country’s top Hispanic chamber leaders, Lea has the experience and knowhow to be a superb member of the Arizona Corporation Commission. Ratepayers and job creators alike will be well-served by Commissioner Marquez Peterson.
“I also want to extend my sincere thanks and congratulations to Andy Tobin. Few Arizonans have stepped up to serve the state time and again like Andy Tobin. Whether as a legislator, agency leader, or commissioner, Andy Tobin puts Arizona first. The governor has made an outstanding choice. Andy Tobin is exactly the right leader for ADOA.”
