PHOENIX (August 30, 2016) – Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry President and CEO Glenn Hamer released the following statement regarding the Arizona Supreme Court’s decision on Proposition 206:
“I want to thank the Arizona Restaurant Association for its willingness to challenge the validity of the signatures that were submitted to the secretary of state. The legal proceedings made clear that there were serious deficiencies with the quality of thousands of signatures, so while it may not have prevailed, the ARA was right to bring the case forward.
“Now that we know it will appear on the November ballot, the Arizona Chamber is assessing the best path forward in order to ensure the defeat of Proposition 206. We are prepared to make our case to voters that a 50 percent increase in the minimum wage and mandated paid leave is bad for job creators and job seekers, and that it will actually hurt the hardworking Arizonans the initiative’s proponents claim to want to help.
“We look forward to the debate and a spirited campaign.”
