PHOENIX (September 10, 2021) – Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry President and CEO Danny Seiden released the following statement:
“Responsible Arizona employers of all sizes are doing their part to slow the spread of Covid-19 and protect their workforce and customers. Job creators have adopted mitigation strategies that have included work-from-home arrangements, hybrid workplaces and flexible scheduling, and they are encouraging – and sometimes requiring – their employees to take advantage of the free vaccines.
“We are concerned, however, about establishing a troubling precedent whereby the federal government could attempt to justify additional cumbersome and expensive mandates on job creators, as well as stiff fines, something we would always oppose. Especially concerning in this case is the administration’s failure to consult with the nation’s business community or its governors.
“We all want this pandemic to end, to keep our health care systems from being overwhelmed, and to keep our economy open. This requires a partnership and collaboration between the private sector and all levels of government, not top-down mandates from Washington.”
