PHOENIX (March 17, 2021) – Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry Interim President and CEO Garrick Taylor released the following statement on S.B. 1377, an important liability protection bill that passed the House Judiciary Committee today:

“Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, the healthcare community, businesses, educational institutions and nonprofits have been working tirelessly to safely serve patients and customers as well as protect their employees. These entities have adjusted daily operations and quickly responded to rapidly changing conditions.

“We thank Sen. Vince Leach and members of the House Judiciary Committee for supporting targeted and limited legal protections for responsible actors during this unprecedented period.

“We must remain focused on economic recovery and allow businesses and health care providers to continue to safely deliver the services that are vital to Arizona without fear of meritless litigation. We look forward to this bill being considered by the full House of Representatives soon.”
