PHOENIX (June 21, 2021)—The Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry will host its Annual Awards event presented by Cox Communications on Wednesday, June 23, 2021. The hybrid event will feature award presentations for State Senator of the Year, State Representative of the Year, Transformational Leader, and the inaugural Doug Yonko Volunteer of the Year.
- Senator of the Year: Senate President Pro Tempore Vince Leach (LD-11)
- Representative of the Year: Rep. Ben Toma, Majority Leader (LD-22)
- Transformational Leader: Dr. Robert C. Robbins, President, University of Arizona
- Doug Yonko Volunteer of the Year: Don Isaacson, Isaacson Law Firm, P.C. and Steve Barclay, Barclay Legal
“The Arizona Chamber congratulates each of these outstanding leaders who make Arizona a better place to live and build a business,” Arizona Chamber President and CEO Danny Seiden said. “Arizona’s economy is thriving thanks to the leadership of each of the individuals we’ll be honoring. Whether they’re advancing public policy to help job creators, building Arizona’s future workforce, or volunteering their time to improve the state’s business climate, these leaders have gone above and beyond to advance Arizona’s competitiveness. We look forward to recognizing their efforts at the Chamber’s 2021 Annual Awards event.”
Cox Communications, a longstanding member of the Chamber, is the presenting sponsor of this year’s Annual Awards.
“Cox is proud to serve as the presenting sponsor for the Arizona Chamber’s Annual Awards. We congratulate all award recipients for their work in strengthening our economy and supporting the communities in our state,” said Susan Anable, Vice President of Public Affairs for Cox Communications.
This year marks the first time that the Chamber’s Volunteer of the Year Award is named for Doug Yonko, a longtime Chamber board member and Hensley Beverage Co. executive who passed away last year.
“Naming the Volunteer of the Year Award after Doug Yonko is a fitting tribute to a man who devoted countless hours to making Arizona a welcoming, prosperous state,” Seiden said. “We miss Doug greatly, and are pleased to acknowledge his lasting contributions to Arizona through this annual award.”
The event will also feature the ceremonial passing of the gavel from the Chamber’s outgoing board chair, Dawn Grove of Karsten Manufacturing, to Nick Goodman, CEO of MomDoc.
“We were extremely fortunate to have Dawn Grove at the helm of the Arizona Chamber board of directors as we navigated the unprecedented challenges of the last year. Dawn’s steady leadership helped to ensure the essential work of the Chamber continued while positioning Arizona job creators to emerge from the pandemic ready to grow again,” Seiden said.
“The Chamber membership is excited to welcome Nick Goodman who will provide a continuation of strong leadership as our new chairman. Nick leads one of the state’s true healthcare sector success stories in MomDoc and is a stalwart champion of the Chamber’s mission. We could not ask for a better leader to guide our work over the next year.”
