PHOENIX (April 10, 2019) – Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry President and CEO Glenn Hamer released the following statement regarding the passage of universal occupational licensing legislation: “It’s always a pleasure to attend a bill-signing ceremony that will make it easier for hardworking Arizonans to earn a living. That’s what happened today when Gov. Ducey signed HB 2569 into law. “Arizona’s job creators applaud Gov. Ducey, House Majority Leader Warren Petersen and his colleagues in the Legislature who, in a bipartisan fashion, tore down a barrier to employment by ensuring that individuals with an occupational license in good standing from another state can ply their trade here in Arizona without having to cut through reams of red tape. For the thousands of new Arizonans our state welcomes each year, this first-in-the-nation reform is the equivalent of setting out a welcome mat. “Too any states around the country have turned their occupational licensing rules and regulations into barriers to employment, which turns certain industries into private clubs. Arizona is doing the opposite. We thank Gov. Ducey and the Legislature for making this important and needed reform.”
