I was so pleased to learn today that my friend Lisa Atkins had been named by Gov. Ducey to be the new commissioner of the Arizona State Land Department.
Lisa is a great Arizonan. On all the big issues – water, defense, education and economic development – Lisa’s been right in the middle of them, working for positive outcomes on behalf of her state.
I first met Lisa during her time with the late great Arizona U.S. Rep. Bob Stump. In the years since, I’ve counted her as a mentor and a great friend.
No one is better suited than Lisa to navigate the complexity of the issues facing our state lands. We couldn’t ask for someone more qualified to take over this important post.
All the best, Lisa, in your new role. Arizona is fortunate to have you.
