Kelly discusses policy priorities, expectations for Biden administration
WASHINGTON (February 10, 2021)—In an exclusive interview, Sen. Mark Kelly, D-Ariz., speaks candidly on Total Spectrum Spotlight about his first impressions as a new member of the Senate, his policy priorities, and what to soon expect from the Biden administration.
Sen. Kelly was sworn in as Arizona’s newest member of the U.S. Senate on December 2, 2020 to finish the term of the late Sen. John McCain. He is a retired American astronaut, engineer, retired U.S. Navy Captain and husband to former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords.
Reflecting on his first seven weeks in the Senate, Sen. Kelly said he is optimistic about working with the federal government to help Arizona small businesses and families recover from the current health and economic crisis.
“Arizonans now have a federal partner with the [Biden] administration when it comes to rebuilding our economy and getting the relief that families and businesses need,” Kelly said.
Sen. Kelly made it clear that he wants Arizonans to know how to reach him and hopes to hear from folks in all corners of the state.
“It’s important to stay in touch,” he said. “My office and my team, we really want to be as accessible as possible. We want to hear from individuals, and we want to work with them. My job is to work for every single Arizonan in the United States Senate.”
