Statement from Arizona Chamber CEO Glenn Hamer on agreement to preserve trilateral North American trade bloc

Categories: 2018, 2018, Press Releases, tradeBy Garrick TaylorSeptember 30, 2018Leave a comment

“I am incredibly pleased that the United States, Canada, and Mexico have reached an agreement to preserve a trilateral, modernized trade agreement linking the continent.

“For nearly 25 years, the North American Free Trade Agreement has ensured North America’s place as the world’s most economically competitive region. A new trilateral agreement means North America will maintain that distinction in the years to come.

“As a border state, this is particularly good news for Arizona. Mexico and Canada are our number 1 and 2 export destinations, respectively, and the ties between us are incredibly strong. Arizona’s already strong competitive standing nationally and globally is only enhanced by this news. We look forward to visiting with our congressional delegation over the coming months to discuss why an updated trade agreement between all three countries is such a priority for the state’s job creators.”
