Emily Anne has been with A for Arizona since the organization launched in 2014, serving first as Program Director and then Senior Program Director before assuming the role of Executive Director in 2017. At A for Arizona, Emily Anne has designed, facilitated, and implemented first-of-its-kind initiatives and solutions to rapidly increase the number of low-income students attending Arizona’s top-performing schools. Today she leads the community and her team to improve and transform the Arizona education system to ensure educational equity for all students. Prior to joining A for Arizona, Emily Anne was a policy fellow at the Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry. She is also a former Teach For America teacher in the Isaac Elementary School District where she taught middle school social studies. This experience fueled Emily Anne’s passion to have a larger impact on educational quality in Arizona and led her to pursue a juris doctor degree to become a more effective advocate and voice for Arizona students. While finishing her law degree, Emily Anne launched a non-profit law center for students and families to access affordable legal representation. Emily Anne holds a bachelor degree from St. Lawrence University, a master in elementary education from Arizona State University, and earned her juris doctor at the University of St. Thomas School of Law. She has taught upper-level undergraduate courses at Arizona State University’s Mary Lou Fulton Teachers College and currently consults for National School Choice Week with the city and statewide Coalition Leadership Teams in the Western region. Emily Anne also leads as the inaugural Teach for America Arizona Alumni Leadership Board Chair and serves on the Teach For America/Arizona State University Recruitment Alumni Board. Using her experience as an educator, legal advocate, and policy leader, Emily Anne is devoted to changing the narrative of what’s possible for all Arizona students.
