Today, the Arizona Chamber joined 40 business organizations in submitting formal comments calling on the Department of Interior to withdraw and revise its draft Colorado River operational guidelines, which would impose disproportionate water cuts on Arizona in violation of established water law.

The Arizona Senate Judiciary and Elections Committee will hear Senate Bill 1489 on Wednesday, legislation that strengthens transparency and accountability in Arizona’s initiative process. The Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry is urging lawmakers to advance the bill, citing its role in improving disclosure, consistency, and voter confidence at the local level. 

“As federal officials consider new rules for managing the Colorado River after 2026, Arizona is being asked to shoulder more than its fair share of the cuts. That is not acceptable, and we need our state’s leaders across both political parties to step up and aggressively push back. As the business community, we are prepared to do the same."
