On Wednesday, Senator McCain filed an amendment to further ensure that federal resources can be used to expand access to high-quality schools for low-income students.
This amendment reinforces Governor Ducey’s idea to create the Arizona Public School Achievement District this year. The Achievement District seeks to ensure every Arizona student has the opportunity to attend an excellent school.
Here at the Arizona Chamber, our “A for Arizona” project focuses on expansion and replication of high-performing schools serving large populations of low-income students, and we are thrilled to see this idea gaining momentum at a national level. Arizona has some truly incredible schools, and with the leadership of Senator McCain and Governor Ducey, we are working to get these schools the resources they need to be able to serve more students.
Earlier this year, Governor Ducey encouraged Arizonans to “think big” when it comes to the possibilities for the future of our state. With entrepreneurial schools leaders who are achieving incredible results, and our senior U.S. Senator and Governor focused on adopting policy to support their work, there is no telling how big and bright our future may be.
