PHOENIX (July 31, 2023) – Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry President and CEO Danny Seiden released this statement following today’s passage of SB 1102, priority business community legislation that will allow Maricopa County voters to choose whether to extend the county sales tax that funds transportation projects.
“We applaud Arizona leaders for coming together to prioritize critical infrastructure. Today’s passage of legislation to allow the voters of Maricopa County to extend Proposition 400 is a testament to months of hard work, collaboration and compromise by the Governor’s Office, legislative leaders, local mayors and stakeholders. The end result of these negotiations is good, durable policy that protects taxpayers and provides accountability for how the dollars are spent.
“The Arizona Chamber has been proud to be part of these efforts, and we are encouraged that today’s vote will help ensure Arizona maintains our competitive edge as we continue to attract record jobs and new residents. This bipartisan vote sends a strong message about the commitment our elected leaders have to the future of our state. The Legislature and the Governor deserve our thanks.”
