PHOENIX (March 30, 2021)—Arizona Chamber of Commerce & Industry Interim President and CEO Garrick Taylor released the following statement regarding today’s state Senate passage of Senate Bill 1377, a bill to extend targeted liability protections to businesses and other entities:
“For the past year, businesses, non-profits, health care organizations and educational institutions across the state have worked tirelessly to manage the COVID-19 pandemic and implement health protocols to keep employees and community members safe.
“On behalf of our broad coalition representing industries of all types and sizes across the state, we applaud members of the Arizona Legislature for passing Senate Bill 1377 and ensuring major contributors to the Arizona economic comeback can continue to safely provide the services and products that are vital to the state’s recovery. We also thank Sen. Vince Leach for his sponsorship and steadfast leadership on this issue.
“Senate Bill 1377 will provide commonsense and targeted protections to responsible actors to prevent the abuse of meritless civil litigation that would derail our economic recovery. We know Gov. Ducey understands the importance of signing into law this wise reform and we look forward to him acting on the bill very soon to protect our frontline healthcare community, education providers and Arizona job creators.”
